Lawrence of Oxford...

From Good-Bye To All That, by Robert Graves:

One morning I went to his rooms, and he introduced me to a visitor there:  'Ezra Pound:  Robert Graves--you will dislike each other,' he said.

***

Lawrence also proposed to present the College with a peacock which, once accepted, would be found to bear the name 'Nathaniel'--after Lord Curzon, an enemy of Lawrence's, and Chancellor of the University.

***

And, another time, he rang the station bell out of his window into the Quadrangle.  'Good God,' I said, 'you'll wake the whole College!'  'It needs waking up.'
